This cocktail was created by the famous literary artist Ernest Hemingway and, in his own words from his recipe in a 1935 celebrity cocktail book, the best way to make this cocktail is as follows:

“Pour one jigger absinthe into a Champagne glass. Add iced Champagne until it attains the proper opalescent milkiness. Drink three to five of these slowly.”
